Vera is a graduate oh Maurice Thorez institute of Foreign Languages in Moscow, Moscow Institute of Finance and Economics, CCIM Institute. She speaks fluent English, read in German and Italian.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Vera has been in real estate since 1989. She is a co-founder of GVA Sawyer where she has been working since 1993. Since 2007 she is president of GVA Sawyer.

INFLUENCE

Vera Setskaya is involved both in the current operational issues and in strategic development of GVA Sawyer. In 2010 – early 2011 the company increased its activity in all areas. The project of an outlet center in the area of Sheremetyevo Airport implemented in a joint venture with the international operator Fashion House has entered the development stage. A construction permit has already been obtained and earthwork has begun. Also a contract for fee development of the Apart-Hotel project in Kaluga has been signed. Construction of a warehouse complex in the Moscow province for Parmalat is being successfully monitored. Two new strategic programs of hotel and retail property construction across Russia are now at the stage of partnership formalization. Their actual delivery will get started in summer 2011.

Cooperation with city administrations in the area of consulting has been widened for the sake of analytic research to support the development of relevant urban projects. In particular a feasibility study of most effective use of cultural heritage objects in central Krasnoyarsk has been completed and the Program of Marketing Activity in the Archangelsk province has been formed.

The brokerage department of GVA Sawyer has broadened its operations with retail real estate and is carrying forward such projects as North Butovo and Monarch malls in Moscow, Rubin and Millennium shopping malls in Omsk and a retail park in Volokolamsk. In addition to services provided for client tenants, the agency department carries out exclusive projects – office-retail complex Kursky and business park Sosenki in Moscow. In 2010 the department successfully brought out a new service to the market – “pre-brokerage of office and shopping centers.”

Established in 2009, the appraisal arm has reached a payoff level and in 2010 it brought a considerable return. In spite of the successful past year, Vera admits that they originally planned more ambitious goals for brokerage and investment transactions. 2010 also proved the most significant year for GVA Sawyer’s president in the area of personal professional achievements. Ms. Setskaya was elected Chairman of the Expert Panel of Managers and Developers Guild on capitalization of assets owned by financial institutions. The panel is to promote the services of the professional community to banks and other institutes as far as their dealing with collateralized and non-core assets is concerned.

PLANS, FORECASTS

A launch of the company’s strategic programs and notable work in professional associations will certainly allow Vera Setskaya to retain her influence on the real estate market. She is now actively working on involvement of investments and co-investors in the development project Yenisei Park City delivered by GVA Sawyer in central Krasnoyarsk and on the development of the company’s other strategic projects. In addition, Vera applied for a FRICS degree to be awarded her and hopes she will be found worthy.

A PERSONAL TOUCH

Vera is married and she has an adult son. She loves traveling both over Russia and abroad, keeps her family hearth and is deeply involved in karate. Her other hobby is classical music, classical plays by Chekhov and other great authors.
